Butterflies - 2021 (56 of the 59)

Of the  59  species of butterflies, I missed out on only 8 species in 2020, having travelled no further north than Croydon !

– So over time, my quest is to see and photograph those I missed.

- a visit to Norfolk in June '21 proved productive for the first one. The beautiful Swallowtail - Papilio machaon ssp. britannicus. The UK sub-species.

- Then came a visit to Cumbria in July '21 (20th-24th) - which came out trumps for 4 more species. High Brown Fritillary (Arnside Knot), Large Heath (Meathop Moss), Northern Brown Argus (Latterbarrow and Smardale), Scotch Argus (newly emerged 23rd July) (Smardale)

So I have now seen and photographed  56 of the 59  species of butterflies of the UK and now have to wait until next year 2022 for the remaining 3 species !
