Butterflies - 2022 (58 of the 59)

Of the  59  UK species of butterflies, I have now seen and photographed  58  species, all of the English and Scottish Butterflies.

- a visit to Scotland at the end of May and early June '22 proved productive for my 57th species, that being the Chequered Skipper. This was found at two sites; Glasdrum in Appin and Allt Mhuic (north shores of Loch Arkaig)

- Then I travelled back from Scotland for three nights staying in a lovely vilage of Boot in Cumbria and was lucky to see my 58th species, the Mountain Ringlet. This was at Irton Fell which I tried at last year, unsuccessfully. So yippee.

Now, many people I have spoken to, do not bother with the 59th species, which is the Cryptic Wood White in Ireland. It is difficult to tell apart from the English Wood White other than scrutinising the genitals !! However, for completeness I may take a City break to Belfast and visit a reserve to see it, one year.

Just one butterfly yet to be found and hopefully photograph to be able to reach the 59 but for now I am content with 58 !

2023 (May/June) ?- No: 59 TBD
